12 races in 12 months: October, November AND December

I’m finally bringing you the recap on the last three races of last year. At the beginning of 2015, I set the goal of running at least one 5k each month. I’m shocked that between my crazy schedule, a new baby and being pregnant, that I actually did it! One of the things that helped is that Kansas City has

12 races in 12 months: September

Wow its been a minute! Or several.. I realize its a little crazy I’m getting around to finally writing my September race recap in mid November late December, but I have a really good excuse… I’ve been cuddling this little chunk as much as possible. We welcomed our sweet baby girl in September! The last couple months have found us settling

12 Races in 12 Months: August

8 races down, 4 more to go! I was definitely ill prepared for this month’s race. Because of a new workout program I am participating in, I ran only 4 times in the 7 weeks between July’s race and this one.  I did run a few sprints and intervals here and there, but I definitely got out of my normal running

12 Races in 12 Months: July

Some races are about speed or setting a new PR. Some races are about reminding yourself you can do hard things. Lenexa’s Freedom Run on July 4th was the latter. I totally jinxed myself by saying last month that I’d been fortunate so far not to run a race sick yet. I was coming off a nasty cough going into the race

12 Races in 12 Months: June

I’m halfway through my 12 races in 12 months challenge!! I am surprised at how easy it has been so far to get my 5K in every month. Luckily, so far, I haven’t been sick or injured race day and hopefully that streak continues…  So far this year I’ve run 7 races 64.5 miles and shaved 3 minutes and 10 seconds off

12 Races in 12 Months: May Double Header

We’re almost halfway through this year and my 12(+) races in 12 months! So far its been such a rewarding experience to see my running progress from month to month and participate in some fun new races. Its been really helpful to have always have a race on the horizon to keep me running consistently.  This month I did two

12 Races in 12 Months: April

I’m 1/3 of the way through my 12 races in 2015 challenge! I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. Having a race to “train” for each month makes each month seem shorter than usual. This month I went for a little extra challenge and did the Trolley Run, which is a 4 mile race. I can’t remember

12 Races in 12 Months: March

I almost didn’t write this post. Because I almost didn’t run this run. For three days prior to the Diva Dash 5K, I had a really bad pain in my neck that made it hard to turn my head and really hard to get decent sleep. I was 90% sure Friday night that I wasn’t going to run, but figured I’d

12 Races in 12 Months- February

Boy was this month’s race was a tough one! I had never done the Mardi Gras KC 5k before, but the 10 am start time definitely appealed to me since I was working late the night before. It was so nice to be able to roll out of bed at 8 am for a race rather than 6 am. One great

12 Races in 12 Months- January

It feels so good to have the first 5K of the year behind me! If you missed it, my goal for the year is to do 12 races in 12 months. I’m hoping to run a minimum of twelve 5Ks this year, but hopefully trade up for a couple longer distances too. Hopefully. For my January run, I chose the Groundhog
