DIY Shower Bombs (Three Versions)

Today I’ve got something for you that will make your showers better. I’m obsessed with making things smell good and the shower is no different. This idea started when I was feeling a little congested. I sprinkled a few drops of eucalyptus oil on the shower floor to help clear my sinuses. It smelled great. For about 30 seconds… I knew I needed something with a little more staying power.

Enter these shower bombs. With essential oils added to the top and the bottom, the scent lasts throughout your shower, but they also melt away, leaving nothing on the shower floor. Just make sure you put them at the edge of where the spray hits for the longest lasting scent.

You’ll need:

1 cup of baking soda

1/3 cup of cornstarch

1/2 cup water

essential oils

Combine dry ingredients and then gradually add water and mix well. As soon as the water hits the cornstarch, it will get the consistency of concrete, so add it slowly.

Spoon into a mold (I used this one) and let sit out for 24 hours. After 24 hours, they should be firm enough to pop out of the mold without breaking.

Add a few drops of essential oil to the top and bottom of each bomb. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

I’ve got three scent variations here, but the possibilities are endless!

Lavender and Orange- Great for a pre-bedtime shower or a post-workout shower to relax.

Grapefruit, orange and lemon- Great for your morning shower or anytime you need a little pick-me-up.

This is such a great idea! I love the idea of making my own bath bomb so that I can make it specific to my needs. It certainly sounds nice, especially in this cold:) Hope you’re having a great day, Elle:)

How do you keep the scent lasting? I made some and put them in a mason jar right after I made them. 2 weeks later I tried to use one and I couldn’t even smell it.

I usually use them within a few days, but most often I just scent them when I’m ready to use one depending on my mood that day
