What comes first? The peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips added in or the chocolate chip cookie with peanut butter? I don’t know the answer so I came up with a combination of the two. Peanut butter cookies are a great cookie to make clean since they don’t need a ton of sweetness. I’m comfortable using raw sugar in my recipes, but I understand that doesn’t fit into everyone’s clean eating plans, so every once in a while I like to create a recipe with a different sweetener.
I love these peanut butter dark chocolate chip cookies because they have some of that salty/sweet thing going on. I normally use mini chocolate chips, but used big ‘ol chocolate chips in these so that you get chocolate in almost every bite.
One important thing to note is to be careful not to over bake these. Whole wheat flour has a tendency to suck the moisture out of everything you make, so let these bake until they’re just on the verge of being done and take them out of the oven. They’ll continue to bake a little after you remove them. That way they’ll be soft, gooey, chocolately, peanut-buttery deliciousness.
