This Saturday, we ran the Martini Mile, a four-person relay where each person runs a mile. This race was special because it was the first race my husband and I have ever done together. He’s not crazy about running, but he was a good sport.
I was a little nervous because I haven’t done a race in about 6 years. Once we got there, the nerves went away, it was a huge party! Everyone’s energy and excitement became contagious. If we do it again next year, we’re rocking some costumes.
Best costume went to these guys… can you name that duo?
I ran the first leg. After I discovered the monster hills, I was glad I hadn’t had any warning. For a one mile loop, they picked about the hardest course possible. Each team member wasn’t timed, just the overall team. I wish I’d worn a watch to time my mile, because I know I ran faster than I was expecting.
We all agreed it was a tough miler, but still a blast. Even though the race was centered around the bars on the area, our first priority after the race was to find some food.
We decided to try Sol Cantina, which ended up being an excellent choice. I celebrated with a sangarita and some southwest chicken rolls. I definitely need to recreate those rolls at home. Everyone else went with fish tacos and we all concurred the food was delicious.
Next we moved to the Velvet Dog, one of the bars that sponsored the race. The inside has some creepy cool decor. There was a large outdoor area which was perfect for enjoying the gorgeous early summer day. Drinks were enjoyed before we moved on.
We moved to Tower Tavern, the other sponsor, where I didn’t get any good pictures because it was too dark. We rocked some shuffleboard, enjoyed more drinks and the good company.
It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday evening with our wonderful team. Now I’m much more excited for the Glow Run coming up at the end of the month!
What is your favorite race? What costumes would your foursome wear if you ran this race?
