Clean Bean Burritos

These easy to whip up burritos have taken the place of my former Taco Bell bean burrito fix. I used to grab them because I thought they would be healthyish…..

Here’s what in a Taco Bell bean burrito:

Cheese Cheddar (Milk Pasteurized CulturedSaltEnzyme(s)Annatto ColorAnti-Caking Agents) , Tortilla(s) (Wheat Flour Bleached Enriched [FlourMay contain : Barley Malted FlourNiacinIron ReducedThiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1)Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)Folic Acid (Vitamin aB)] ,WaterCorn Ground treated withLimeVegetable(s) Oil [May contain one or more of : Cottonseed OilCorn OilSoybean(s) OilCitric AcidMay contain : TBHQ Contains 2% or less of the Following: (] , SaltFumaric AcidCalcium PropionatePotassium Sorbate) , Bean(s) (Bean(s) PintoSoy Oil [Shortening Trans Fat Freewith TBHQ andCitric Acid] , Salt) , Red Sauce (Corn Starch ModifiedMaltodextrinPaprikaSaltTomato(es) PowderOnion(s) PowderSpice(s),Garlic PowderYeast Extract [Gluten] , Paprika Extractives color(s)Xanthan GumMalic Acid,Caramel ColorPotassium ChlorideAscorbic AcidCitric AcidTrehaloseFlavor(s) Natural,Contains less than 22% of Silicon Dioxide) , Onion(s) (May contain one or more of : Onion(s) White OrOnion(s) Yellow)

Too much junk! Gross

We’ve been relying on these quick, easy bean burritos that can be made ahead in a batch and easily reheated for a delicious dinner or lunch.

Clean Bean Burritos:

10 Corn Tortillas (I use Trader Joes)
1 can refried beans (again Trader Joes- no added junk in those)
shredded cheese of choice (questions on cheese? go here)
1 jar salsa (predictably….. TJs brand)

Heat refried beans over the stove until hot.

Warm tortillas in the microwave (or oven). This will make them easier to fold.

Spread a large spoonful of beans on a tortilla.

Top with a spoonful of salsa

Top with shredded cheese

Roll up and wrap in foil. Store in refrigerator until ready to eat. When ready to eat, just reheat for 45 seconds to a minute and enjoy!

I was so addicted to the bean burritos at Taco Bell but then I tried the crockpot refried beans recipe from 100 days of real food so easy and so much better than the canned version! I do burritos, taco salad and nachos with them. Delicious!!
